Am I missing something here? That same tumbler is $78 on the rock shed website. Plus when you order directly from the website you will get 20% off all crushed rock and 10% off all the grit when ordered with the tumbler. More than likely he would need to sell it for more on EBAY to pay all the fees. Chuck

I see a lot of sellers sell more on eBay than in their shops. It's not just fees. There is more traffic on ebay with a better likelihood of getting a better price. Ebay is not the place for bargains that it used to be.

When I first started selling on ebay it was worth it-a lot of traffic and international sales were great. Now, the fees make you jack the prices up and even then you don't make much profit. Plus to me it has gotten so buyer "protected" that as a seller sometimes you get screwed and not in a good way. Etsy is getting the same way and you don't have the traffic like Ebay, so it takes a little more advertising to draw people to your page. Instagram is a great social media site for that purpose. There are other sites for what I sell, but they are hit & miss as well. Right now I have stopped selling due to the hassles and time it takes to just get an item listed.

I used to sell on eBay and loved it. But, I am hearing it is not the place to sell anymore. And, I was over etsy on day one. Never liked etsy and I still don't, yet there I am because, for handmade, no one else has come close being the place for it. I'm hoping someone will fill the void and be what etsy could be. They have stockholders now and THAT is who they are beholden to, not the sellers.

Almost all the people I follow that have shops on there have been nothing but complaining about the changes.

Twice I did not receive what I paid for and Ebay NEVER refunded my money. I forgot what their one excuse was. The second time they said the seller closed their bank account and so I could not get my money back.

I have always been almost harassed by eBay to refund buyers even when I knew they were pulling a scam and had pictures to prove it. Sent some cases to dispute and still lost. Plus PayPal will hold funds until resolved. How your sellers got away with not paying you I have no clue.

But I am a lot more careful about buying off of Ebay anymore because of those and having to battle other sellers to get what I paid for. In one case I bought an oxygen concentrator for $12 because the guy did not start the bidding higher or put a reserve. Well he did not like that so claimed he lost this big device. I had to go round and round with him. He finally sent me a cheaper unit and I settled because it was clear Ebay was not going to do squat to help. Now I will not buy from anyone that does not have a lot of sales behind them and a very good feedback.

That and a mail chimp email campaign and you should be stand alone. By now you must have a couple hundred email addresses to market to. And then you will not be beholden to Etsy shareholders and the whims of their management team (thinking payments here).
