Nothing is harder than wrapping irregular tumbles. So, you did good.

Thank you! They like to slip around a lot. I'm trying to pick out ones that at least have some decent shape.

Don’t know if this is acceptable or not, but could you file a few little nicks there you want the wire to stay?
I like that your samples are all different.

I'm also new to wrapping and have been working mainly with irregular shaped stones. Yours show a lot more creativity than any of mine have.
A few things I've learned: Using smaller wire on the bindings than on the wraps makes things look neater/tighter. I loop my bails around short wood dowel rods and leave the rods in there until I've finished everything.

Very nice wraps...My problem is leaving the pliers mark on the wire, and twisting the wire in the wrong areas... So your doing pretty good for being new at it!

Thank you...I have the same problem with the older marks. Hence the reason I filed the black wire in areas to give it a "tarnished look. Going to buy some with plastic coating to hopefully correct that problem.

I started or wrapping irregular shaped tumbled stones. I found that square wire was easier to wrap with. And that the black coated wire scraps off very easy, all pliers had to be Teflon coated.i only used the black wire a few times and got so frustrated I never went back.

I got some flat wire but it's too wide for the smaller stones. The black is hard to work with, but with the right stone it gives it a neat look. Post some pics, I would love to see more wrapped tumbles

These are from a year ago or so, I don't do tumbled stones too often anymore, cabs are just to easy to wrap.

One nice thing about practicing on odd tumbles is you find ways to make things work. I wrapped an elk tooth for a buddy yesterday and it was cake compared to some of the weird rocks i've fought with.
Thanks for sharing, and when you discover the secret to quick and easy bails let me know ...

Thanks for sharing, and when you discover the secret to quick and easy bails let me know ... That' s the main thing I'm having issues with. They come out like a mess
