(Someone has to make sure captbob is taking his prosac,) by his deranged writings I can tell he isn't. prosac? deranged writings? Not sure what the prosac is for, isn't that for depression or something like that? So, what deranged writings are you referring to? Bob, (or would you prefer some fake Hollywood wannabe name?) stick with the pretentious posts. They play better to the masses than the botched attempts at humor. If that is what that was. just sayin'

Ta Hell with the Pipe! I am looking at that Catfish and thinking that would be awful tasty with some Hush Puppies Cathead Biscuits and Greens and maybe some fried okra and fried green maters. Tell me when And Ill be on the way
Duke, from seeing this very same catfish hanging from the rafters numerous times over the years, I know that it is a stuffed - as in fabric and polyfill, not a mounted/taxidermied catfish. Betting it would not be very tasty, or even edible. Lol.
One of jamesp 's many surprises...

Yep, that catfish has fooled the best of them. Friend gave it to me. It was her idea to hang it on that beam. Never knew who many people it would fool. I believe it was intended to be a full length pillow for people to sleep with. Ever snuggled up with a catfish ?

Unrelated. storing vibe hopper and media underwater. The marvelous Vibrominisonic is looking good in the video! Looks like you have a good varity in the hoppers.
On an unrelated note, you had to know I was gonna ask about the vibe hopper and media... Storing underwater for safe keeping? Or, did ya want them to grow? Best get them out of there before it freezes.

By the way the Vibraminisonic works awesome!

Anytime you use aluminum oxide it can't hurt to keep the equipment and media damp. When it dries it has a nasty habit of turning to near concrete. That bench might get an inch of ice on the coldest day in 20 years. we're safe. may grow tumbles, easier than making them. Rooting compound ? Tumbling compound ? mix ?

Okey dokey, here is the marvelous Vibrominisonic in action. The plastic bowl is hard enough plastic to make a bit more noise. Added weight seemed to have made it a bit milder. It is heavier than the 14 pound hopper when full of rocks. I'd call that a win. Nice job

Thanks TheRock. Kind of a simple project. It's the part below that has most of the brains.

It either polishes or it don't. simple as that.

Working like a dream! Tumbling time will tell if the polish is swell.

Pretty class fix you did there getting those tubs adapted. Looks common sense to me, having the 5" pipe was fortunate.

Looks good. Thought i heard a metallic ringing a couple times in the video, like a loose washer or something rattling, but it may have just been the polished rocks ringing. Most noticeable at about :27-28 ... just the rocks clinking?

Pretty class fix you did there getting those tubs adapted. Looks common sense to me, having the 5" pipe was fortunate. 'If it polishes' Next pipe will be a half pipe so that hoppers can be lifted directly up individually. The keyway and the rubber hold down straps utilized to secure it like the Mini Sonic design. I see no reason why that Vibrasonic base would not shake 6 hoppers all in tandem. Hoppers 4.5" wide. 6 X 4.5" = 27 inch long pipe. Such length may start to pivot at center, not sure. If not 6, probably 4 for sure. 4 X 4.5" = 18 inch long pipe. 4 individually removable little hoppers would allow a lot of small separate abrasive and soft rock experiments. I wonder if that 3450 RPM motor could be wired for 1750 RPM, doubt it. Sure would be nice to install a switch that would allow such. The pipe is .109" thick. Plenty thick to weld to with out distortion to a point for experimental machines. Those hoppers are awkward to secure, the only surface that was agreeable/consistant in shape was the perfectly round belly.

As I recall, your unit generates the vibrations with an off-center weight. This should generate a sinusoidal wave form. (Provided the hoppers and load don't interfere with the wave form.)

30 years ago vibration meters started at $1000. China made here for $110. Measures the 4 big ones - frequency, displacement, velocity and acceleration. Unlike complicated rotational equipment where you are trying to find bad bearings a vibe is made to vibrate. Much simpler, basic vibration meter will give you all the info you need.
