Hi all Sorry I haven't posted in awhile, but with the start of high school soccer here in San Diego, there's been lots to do and never enough time. Just before tryouts, my rockhounding buddy Frank and I headed southeast for 8 days in Texas. We went on Teri Smith's trips to the Walker Ranch as well as visiting the Stillwell Ranch, Balmorrhea Lake and roads in Webb County around Laredo. As I get things cut I'll post pictures of them, but there is a bunch of material to work through. And I really need to get back to cabbing and maybe get in a trip to the Cady Mountains now that it's cooling off. So little time...so much fun to have! Here are cuts off some nodules I collected along a county road in Webb County. I cut these first because I could see the orbicular pattern on the end of the nodule and I suspected palmwood. Certainly looks like it, but could be something else. Maybe someone has a more specific or better idea than mine. And one other that's not palm, but a pretty cool agate... Thanks for looking and for your thoughts. Craig

Some pretty slabs there. Not sure about palm wood, but definitely agate replacing something. Wild colors..

Actually, Frank was taking the pics on the trip. Hopefully he will have some to share... I will post more cuts as I get to them. Lots of great stuff.

First ones are definitely not palm but rather a really nice orbicular Rio grande agate. Lots of orbs spots and poppies in Rio grande agate. That last moss is a good'un too....Mel

Love those orbs in the suspected palm. Very nice and I do love the colorful ones.

Thanks for your comments, folks!
Thanks Mel for the help with ID. I was hoping you'd see this post. I knew you'd know. Been trying to get some more materials cut so I can take pics and post some more.
