Hey Stoner! They look real Good! Thanks Wiz! I like that earthy look those jaspers have. You got a nice shine and the whole batch looks great! But where are the details of what you did to get there; That's the best part! ;D Nice Job! -Banjocreek

stoner you really did do a great job on those. i don't see any with pits, cracks - they all look perfect. did you weed out the bad ones or did they all tumble that well?
what did you polish with?

Hey Stoner - give up the details. I have an offsite in Morro Bay the first week in April and would love to know the beaches to comb and those to avoid. Any tips would be appreciated.
Thanks, Janine

Hey all. Well, first, thanks to thewiz for getting the pic here on the board. I'm not sure why I can't do it-maybe cuz I'm not on a windoz machine? Anyway, the details. This is not the complete batch. They are only a sampling of what I tumbled in the first batch from that area(I probably brought home 25 lbs. that weekend). Most of the rest of this batch came out looking like these too. They went 7 days in each step, the polish was whatever comes with the Thumlers grit pack(alum ox I think. It is bright white.) Some didn't take as good a shine, so I put them back into the polish by themselves. The two in the upper left of the pic that look like sandstone are just that. Knowing I couldn't tumble sandstone, but wanting that glassy look just the same, I just sprayed them with Gloss laquer, and actually, they look pretty cool. The largest rock in the pic is about 1.25 in. Alot of the rocks were already rounded and some were semi-polished by nature. Janine: I collected most of the rocks at the beach in Montana De Oro State park at the end of Pecho Valley rd. The rest I picked up at "The rock" just alongside of where I parked the car(left side of the rock) I just picked up a book called "Rockhounding California" and they list moonstone beach in Cambria. Just take Main st. to moonstone beach dr. and your there. Wish I had this book when I was there. Good luck rockhounding and let me know how you do. By the way, the best time is low tide.
Thanks for the positive comments all. I'll try to post a pic of the rest of that batch when they're done. I actually scanned this pic. worked quite well.

Those are very nicely done. Here in a few days I will be posting my second batch of tumbled rock. I have to admit it has made it easier to clean the rocks since I got a barrel for each step. Tami

Hi Ed, The reason your photo's arent there is because Yahoo's photo's aren't open to the public.
You have to post the photo's on a site where anyone can look at them like Photobucket.
I use ImageEvent but there's a yearly fee.Photobucket is free.

Please note the date I started this post, Mar 2, 2004! I think it was my first attempt at posting pics. Fish must have been going thru old posts and since he's in So Calif, Morro Bay caught his attention and commented on it.
It will go back into the archives soon. Sorry for the confusion.
