Hi! New here! Looking forward to learning more! Question have this older little machine, but dont know what to put on polishing wheels to the right, leather wheels and dry, no water on this side of machine. Do i use a diamond paste on them and use each wheel with different paste or something more simple to use to polish? Thanks in advance, any help much appreciated! Attachments:

Looks to me, and I'm no expert on these machines, but it looks like the right side has some old Nova wheels on it. If so, you would be using water with them. They are diamond wheels. If they are still good, that's all you would need to finish a stone unless you want to add a final polishing stage on a polisher.
I'm waiting for someone else to chime in with which machine this is. Looks nice.

Are the wheels on the right really leather wheels? I would suspect that a tray is missing that should be below these wheels no matter what they are. While some wheels can be felt or leather covered and treated with diamond paste or other polishing compounds, its more likely that these are soft diamond wheels (commonly termed nova wheels) and if so they definitely need to be run wet. Pending confirmation of what your wheels are you need to rig a water drip system and a pan to catch that water to keep it off of your shoes. Nice machine especially if you equip it with an expand on the left side, and construct a pan/hood system for the right.

A well focused image of the wheels on the right from the front (straight on) and from the side say from 60 degrees to the right where we can see the edge of the wheels we may be able to determine the type. If they are Nova wheels as previously stated water will be required and a bottom tray similar to the left side.

Hi! Thanks, the two on left are diamond wheels, but all wheels to the right are dry, and have leather like surface, i guess trying to determine if only way to use to polish is with diamond pastes? And if there is some thing more econmical and easy to use on these little 4 inch wheels? Thank you, for any response or advice! Attachments:

That's not leather, but diamond powder mixed with some goop to suspend the particles. The surface slowly wears away, exposing diamonds. The varying colors are used to distiguish the different grits.
Is there a spongy material under the surface? That would allow you to push the cab into the wheel so it "drapes" around the cab, helping to eliminate flat spots. Lynn

gunnisonrock The wheels on the right (thanks for the additional pic) appear to be Nova wheels they have a plastic skin with diamond mixed into the plastic. They must be used wed or you will peal off the diamond baring plastic. Each color is a different grit of diamond. you might pull off the wheels and see if you can read the sticker on the wheel to determine which direction goes from coarse to finest. I would expect a 280 or 325, 600, 1200 and maybe a 3000. If these are 4: wheels you can get 2.5" diameter, 4" diameter and 6" dia and 8" dia Nova wheels. They also may come from another mfg but they would be basically the same with a different color scheme.

Thanks for everyones help! So i am still cornfused about this machine, it was my step fathers and i think its an old gem tech, the wheels on the right have always been used dry, with maybe diamond paste? The set up never had water on that side of things, want to step up my polishing and use machine properly, so do these wheels need water, and just run the cabs through the order of wheels wet, or water and diamond paste? Totally confused, new pic attached if its not totally huge. Thanks again for any help, much appreciated!

It looks like at least two of the wheels are Nova wheels but the one in front with peeling paper does not. If they are not plastic with diamond then they ma be some other material to use with diamond paste as you say. IN that case just use a little mineral oil to keeps rocks cool and lubricated. The Nova wheels will probably cut faster (but that is a guess)
