Hokey Smokes! I've never done those stones, but I can see that when they say rough, they really mean it don't they? I think I'd go broke buying 60/90 for my little 3# barrel to get those suckers shaped up! What a challenging endeavor you have embarked upon!

Thanks again wiz. The rubies are starting to show some color (other than brown) and the amethyst I don't think I'll ever get to the point of just seeing a clear pink or purple. Well, like the saying goes, "keep your rocks to the grindstone"

I'm too scared to mess around with Rubies. Agates are a pain as it is and they're only a 7 on the moh's scale.
