First thing I would say is... Because this happened to me. The rock dust was sucked in the vents and the motor stopped. Luckily somebody posted something about soaking it in mineral spirits. And that worked great for a fix. But for long term I bought a extension so I could hang the tool away from The dust. I have never had troubles since. But just make sure the dust doesn't get in the vents.
I use a dremel all the time for rocks. Pregrind, polishing, drilling whatever I can.

Are you drilling your rock dry? Hope you are doing it under a water drip or some other method.

*Not doing a cab-I want to "shape" and get some of the skin off before I threw it in my tumbler. Once, I figure that out, who knows, I may just try to cab. (I love the "Shroom" in this and hope I don't lose it) *I have a flex shaft-just am so blonde right now, I cannot for the life of me figure out how to connect it-may have figured it out and will test my thinking tonight when I get home from work *I dipped rock in water, and grinded, dip, grinded, dip, grinder and soaked my pants and floor in water. Hence, another reason to do it outside. That is the best I can do right now, until I figure something else out

You shouldn’t be getting so wet. A denim or plastic apron will help. Keep the Dremel out of the water; it will splash a lot.
Does your flex shaft come with instructions? It is a lot lighter and easier to handle than the motor end. You will need to hang the motor end and keep the flex shaft from over-bending.

I am going to have to invest in an apron to use, I don't mind getting wet, but my carpet is another story. It didn't come with any instructions and the videos I watched don't show how to attach it to the Flex Shaft 4200 with the quick attachment. My dad was on the phone with me last night trying to help me and I think we figured it out, but there is a smell that I didn't like so I need to take it apart again and make sure its correct. It will make it a lot easier to use and I have a place outside I can hang it on.
