I forgot to stick the 1/2" plate on this barrel before gluing the cap(on left). Bad mistake. Hard to repair this situation. The 4 inch entry pipe is the other near breach. I have chiseled and grind-ed out and glued a fresh 4 inch pipe in. Note the silicon caulk in the gussets of the reducer. Another breach if the silicon was not injected in-between the gussets. The inside is smooth though. Seems like the bulk grit would leave it rough. split with a Skilsaw

Wear is apparent on the ends. As I journey down this trail, I believe it may be time to bring axial flow into the picture. I must find some nylon bolts and arrange an internal baffle to bring rocks from both ends of the barrel and mash them in the middle. February.

What is going to grind rocks faster, 12 pounds split into 2 barrels or 12 pounds in one barrel ? All else the same. I have no idea. Guessing it takes more horsepower to roll the 2 6's because there is more wall friction

Telling images for sure. Was that barrel new with the new bulk grit? Nope, 8 months SiC 30 and ~8 months bulk. Barrel has been running a year and 4 months. Only with SiC 30 or bulk. I would guess 8 months with each 30 and bulk. The bulk at 55 RPM ate them up the fastest. PVC just ain't gonna cut the mustard with the bulk. No way. So the new method of course grind is faster speed, heavier long lasting bigger diameter barrels and bulk SiC. And LOUD. One week clean outs about perfect since the bulk is still at grind able size by day 5 with best clay slurry. No more SiC additions every 3 days. yippee i still have 4 of those small 7 pound PVC barrels built with the protective end plate installed. I have years left on them for smaller abrasives and softer rocks. They won't go to waste.
