The holidays have officially started here in our home. DH is on vacation. I've been cooking all morning. Tomorrow to my daughters house for the Christmas Eve festivities, Christmas morning with the grandkids at home and later we drive up to my BIL for some rest and relaxation. I hope each of y'all get to have some great family time, too.
For those of you who are Christian, I hope you remember the blessing of Christ's birth in your lives. We celebrate a secular Christmas as we are more of the Jewish persuasion, but it doesn't mean we don't know the true meaning of Christmas or the incredible bonding time for family, for giving, for reflection and for good cheer.
As I get older, New Year's brings new meaning to me. It used to be a time for getting piss drunk and partying, but now I like to remember the year passed and hope for a good new year- with health (to keep working with rocks), prosperity (to buy more rocks) and opportunities to do good (because it makes me happy).
Last year, we came together as a community and saved our little slice of the web for ourselves. What an honor it has been to be part of such a great and diverse group of people. Hope to see you all in the year ahead.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

MERRY CHRISTMAS Tela!!! That was wonderfully written. I’ve been cooking all day as well, still finishing up gift wrapping and finishing up my ridiculous idea of a Christmas Present Christmas tree 😂 My whole family will be over tomorrow. We’ll eat, open many gifts, play silly games and Thank our God above for so many blessings he’s given us this year ( a great healthy family, so many new wonderful rock friends,). We as well have brought the new year in the last few, snuggled up in front of the tv watching a sappy movie. Loving just being together and that Christmas is over 😂

I love the color scheme ya got going on! Very rich. Thank you for sharing.

Merry Christmas Tela, Over here, Christmas is just a Holiday with very little meaning to most. For me personally, Christmas seasons past (more than 30 years), where always a busy time due to my chosen professions. This year not much difference, but yesterday was fabulous and how it should be. First I went on a supply run to prepare for tomorrow, and the superb weather invited just sitting somewhere quietly to contemplate. Christmas Eve 2017 by Kainzer Kurt, on Flickr And after returning home, just spending time with family; cooking, church and a dinner. Today, its back to the usual: packing my bags and off to the crazy city playing Santa all afternoon Christmas Eve 2017 by Kainzer Kurt, on Flickr Playing Santa is not so bad. Love the friendly faces of young and old all around. And there is no better feeling than when someone screaming in delight comes running at you (not always just children And tonight, the real cooking starts in preparation for a BBQ invite up at the cabin for friends and colleagues tomorrow. Once that is done and everyone leaves for home (everyone but me, needs to get back to work on 27th.) I will be left alone with the dogs at the cabin, to ring out the season, in my kind of church Christmas Eve 2017 by Kainzer Kurt, on Flickr Wish you and everyone here at RTH a festive season surrounded by family and friends, and all the best for the coming New Year.

Merry Christmas Tela and all the RTH gang. I'm home with my mom today since we had relatives here last night. Gypsy did enjoy tearing apart boxes and paper last night so it was a good evening. Beautiful pictures kk. You make a really good looking Santa Claus. Very Cute Christmas tree melhill1659, can't say as I've seen that many presents under a tree in my whole life.

Thanks Scott and Jeannie! Nothing a little bit of spiced rum cant fix to keep you warm inside. I will go the "Mulled Wine" path. That will warm up the crew, and the cabin will smell like Christmas should.

The drink is called Caribou and is very popular.

That is TOO cold. I think anything below -15 degrees Fahrenheit is just excessive. I would demand a recount! Thermometer here at work on the porch reads 10 degrees. And the sun is on the thermometer. Did I mention it is windy too? This is going to be the high point for the next several days.

Well here at noon the temperature has risen to a whopping -8 degrees F. Which wouldn't be too bad except the wind is trucking along at 15 mph,(and rising) which makes a windchill of about -30.
