Cool. Only suggestion is to seal the hole area. Looks unfinished now. That would add a lot. Yes, I think the wrapped bail is wire wrapping. Some might not agree. Can you drill the hole before the final polish? Then it would be a polished hole. JMHO

I would think it would have to be done just before that step so stone has shape I want... Any JMHO are greatly appreciated Hoping this hobby can one day turn a small profit to just buy more rocks or maybe not have to work 2 jobs........so I'll take all the feedback I can get

leaving the sealer on finished projects to the experts here. I have never sealed a hole in a cab after it is finished. BTW, the wrap is great.

Sealing can be done using lots of methods but witch one works the best, would hit or miss. Hard as nails finger nail polish or Hot Stuff super glue the red label. Get that from Amazon. I'm sure there are many other items. Hot stuff is shown on YouTube and it says for lapitory use. Go luck It still looks very nice and only being your first try, it looks great.

I think it looks fine without sealer. Any kind of sealer will probably wear off anyway. Maybe not the glue, though. It will probably penetrate. Yes, it is a wire wrap. I like it.

Being happy with one of your very own creations is not silly. Enjoy the fruits of your labor. Do not ever stop being happy with them, get better at it, try new things. Drop the rocks and pickup knitting if you ever stop feeling good about the fruits. Of your labor, not various RTH members. Those you can not feel good about.

I've often used Rustoleum or Krylon Matte or Gloss Clear Enamel to seal things I either couldn't or didn't want a lapidary finish on. I spray a little in the cap and apply w/ a small paint brush. Note*- be sure the stuff in the cap is dry before you put the cap back on the can, or use something else to spray in other than the cap. Duh.

A progressive set of Nova points used in your drill would provide you w/ an unsurpassed lapidary finish, but is more of a time/$$$ investment.

I use the hard as nails polish for some lapidary things, but only ones which will absorb it. First coat is a matte finish. Second semi gloss. Third produces some shine. Fourth is usually the same shine as the stone. I have worn one with the four coats for several years, with no loss. The pain is the stone has to be in a warm area with at least 24 hours between cots. I have masked off polished areas. Also a gloss coat ceramic spray sealer, which can be a pain, when I accidentally applied it too thick. Then some sanding on the edges where the masking was.

I'll have to try it on a stone I don' care if I mess up

That 8 pound cobble is a nasty grainy agate Alison. Never thought it would polish. Nothing further from the truth. Though totally grainy it ended up being el primo tumbling material. It was a one of a kind, well, I found nothing else like it. It had a lot of white chalcedony fill which lightened it up. Instead of the typical darker moss and plume agates. About had to saw it, the hammer did a poor job breaking it into tumbles. One of my favorite finds on the Rio. It was about one foot long. Some sections orange, some red, some mixed. Nary a fracture cause it was tougher than a 10 cent steak. I sawed it into 1 inch thick slabs so the hammer could reduce the stubborn grainy monster. Notice how it is gemmy right up to the edge, telling how tough of a material it is. It resisted the external torture of the Rio. The condition of a Rio agate at the very edge is telling of how much mechanical abuse it can resist.
