Hey, I recognize those photos from my FB messenger. lol The "vein" is actually old oceanic sediments and goes from WA down through Mexico. They find the same brecciated jaspers/Franciscan Formation quartz in OR as we do here in CA. Also, Stony Creek and Stoney Canyon are two different places. Stony Creek is up north in Orland, Stone Canyon is in So. CA and they produce different material. I didn't realize that and once listed a SC rock as Stone Canyon and had a complaint.

Donna, Here are some more sediment pictures for you to enjoy! dry/wet, from my observation?,Stony creek has a tighter pattern than the stone canyon this rock seems somewhere in between. Attachments:

The ID above for Franciscan quartz for your rock was correct, IMHO. You are in more of a quartz than a traditional jasper. Much of Stony Creek material is also quartz. However, it also comes in a more jasper form with banded agate between the jasper breccias. I'll see if I can find an actual SC jasper breccia and cut it later today.
