Hey all. Finished my second batch on Sunday. Thought I'd post a couple of pics. I know we have all seen quartz rough before, but thought it would be fun to post before and after pics. Here is the rose quartz rough. I apologize for the quality of the pic. I had to take it inside under poor lighting conditions. Another pic of the rough The finished product after 3 weeks in 60/90, 1 week in 120/220, 1 week in prepolish and 2 weeks in cerium oxide polish. These pics were taken outside on a nice sunny day.

Hey, great job on the rose quartz Otter! Very nice batch! It is pretty stuff. I have a small amount going in the mixed batch/cubeX project and can't wait to see how it turns out. Don't you love the way it glitters when you turn it in the light? Talk to you later, Don

Very nice! Quartz has always been on of my favorits rocks. I still remember looking for smokey quartz in my grandmothers backyard in Pennsylvania as a child. Some of my fonder memories....

Really nice! I am a fan of quartz for tumbling, the Rose is especially nice.

sherry, i saw under james tigereye post that you said you weren't fully satisfied with the polish on these. you used cerium oxide polish right? james would running them in 1000 a.o. have improved the polish? i've got some in stage 3 now.
kim
p.s. does anyone know which prior post was on polishing green adventurine?

Thanks all for the kind words. Kim, I just got my order of 1000 A.O. from The Rock Shed today. As soon as I have an empty barrel I'm going to rerun them and see if it makes a difference. I may do the same with the amethyst I am rerunning in cerium now if I am still unhappy with the shine. Should make for an interesting experiment. Of course I'll post pics. Wiz, I know what you mean. Alot of them had internal fractures. Although I think that sometimes that's what helps them glisten in the sunlight. I do have one that has an end that is free from fractures and is crystal clear. It's pretty. I'll find it and post a pic.
