I was given a Lortone Vibrating Flat Lap a few years ago, and was wondering what people use these for besides using it one a slab. Its an older model with two decent sixe trays and uses rubber balls for cushions. The ball are shot, but have a bag of them someplace. Is it worth getting out and using it if you don't do slabs? Would it polish a flat glass slab? I have nebver used it for anything , other to plug it in and m,ake sure it works. Thanks in advance

It will polish any flat rocks or glass. Flat, not sort of flat. Many people use them to polish geode halves. Lynn

For slabs (glass or rocks) you have to put weight on top or slabs just bounce on surface. If slabs are large and thick maybe not (I did some 1" thick X 8" dino bone slabs once on a Lortone and they came out OK).

Flat laps are good for Bookends, paper weights (thick slabs), Geode halves, thin slabs, solid agate nodules like Brazilian.
