Was almost too thin, but noticed the 4 layers making it a hottie.

The purple one appears to be hand blown art glass, maybe Czech. Even if USA made, they are in shops around here for hundreds, if not more. This purple piece fernwood ? fernwood, lol I just walked of the watermelon truck 3 weeks ago and started hiking thru thrift shops for tumble glass and have found 2 Kosta Boda 1 confetti Murano 1 perhaps this Czech piece worth 100's probably others SO, I must begin a concerted effort to have these pieces looked at by you knowledgeable people. I am shocked that collectors have not found these pieces and find it hard to believe they are so common. No, the obviously, blown, swirled larger one.

Dang, I have to work all day and all H*** breaks loose, lol.
Yes, a piece is only worth what the buyer is willing to pay, and what the seller knows about value. I have never purchased many art vases, only inherited a few. Thrift shops in areas where the clientele is not familiar with art glass often have a great selection for reasonable prices. Most of mine are in totes upstairs and the door will not open now due to winter house shifting.
Will PM you some photos soon.

The red one is interesting, but I am not finding anything like it-Id say smash it fernwood what is your thoughts on it? -Hell cant be worse than smashing a Murano Confetti right? (heart just thudded again)
The other one-that one goes on a shelf (the purple, blue, green swirl) reminds me of a glass blower in Palisades Ca-don't think it is vintage, but it is a beautiful piece.

fernwood MsAliFound this one on a quick stop back home today. Knock your socks off stunning. Hint: Asia Serious crack running full circle so cheap. Looks like the crack is from lack of annealing. NOT me. Any ideas ? 11 pounds. 16 inches tall and 8.5 inches on widest shoulder. Awesome layering, thick. Wicked layering - 1 clear deep green inner to 2 opaque yellow to 3 multi-color art layer over the yellow to 4 clear base Lol, Raymond. And his wife Stella double teamed me on the haggle. Beat me down bad. Issue you a knife at the front door neighborhood, bad location.

Georgia is looking better and better for a visit

Georgia is looking better and better for a visit This couple owns a wholesale warehouse of the gaudiest trinckets you have ever seen. I am supposed to present a business license to buy. However they had about 30 hand blown pieces that were real nice. One on the shelf and multiple stock of each in the back room. Their warehouse is close to where I deliver fire pits to the freight company. Many silk flower and picture frame importers in this area. Many import shops. Mostly trashy stuff from China. Super low budget thrift stores. Just a nasty dangerous stretch of neighborhood for about 3 miles known as Bankhead. Odd thing was that they said they had sold 50 of these vases to a client and they were all cracked They had turned the lights off and unlocked the door for me as they were just closing. Bad language barrier. I will go back when they are open and have time to get the story on this glass. It sounded like it was Chinese duplicates of Italian glass. Another big bowl I would have bought but did not have much cash. They were confused about the breaking it up deal, ha. That tripped them out. I went down the road to a silk flower importer and they had wicked hand blown glass for $8 to $10. Gotta be Chinese imitations. By 5:30 PM they all closed which shut cut the shopping trip short. Dozens of these places. I'll go back earlier tomorrow after making my deliveries to the freight company.

The spiral abstract is machine made, a thin balloon of color running full length. Just like the rooster.

You are buying enough glass to sort of out manufacturing methods.
I love that.
BTW
Break all of it. DGAF. I like the tumbles better then the original pieces.

No telling how old she was when she got it That ball is pure silicon dioxide. Quartz monocrystal. Made the same way as pure silicon for making solar panels. Huge boules of pure perfect material for cutting.

jamesp's efforts have sparked a LOT of interest on the FB page, if anyone cares. There are SO MANY new peeps out there that are interested in tumbling and other lapidary skills.

MsAliThere are two schools of thought about some specimen rocks. Never grind or molest, or chop it up and make jewels out of it. I disagree with Scott, and respect historical fine art pieces. However there must be a lot of them sold for pennies to thrift stores. I have accidentally found quite a few in a week's time. No respect out there. After melting some glass and visiting some glass studios a new respect. Acquiring a collecting bug for these art pieces Scott. Apparently I have been eating Lucky Charms, I keep finding them for pennies. Funny thing about glass, there is little difference in it be it a cheap import or a $1000 Italian piece. No pits no fractures, perfect lapidary stock. Modern machine made glass actually makes the best jewelry for the most part because the color patterns are blown/formed closer together with multiple injectors.

KD Notice the interest krazydiamond ? I see a fine little entrepreneurial endeavor combined with a hobby love. That rarely happens. I also have a young niece and nephew that are entrepreneurially motivated. My baby brother died 2004 and they sort of fell in my lap. Might build a little business they can carry on with.
