A few picked from the finish of the last batch out of the rotary plus some added odd balls. This is what fascinates me about art glass. The unveiling of the artist's plot in layering his work thru tumbling away edge layers. Starting from the inside of the piece, 1mm opaque yellow, 1/2mm white, 2mm opaque yellow, 2mm clear, 1/2mm color blend, 4mm clear glass. Thicknesses of these layers vary thru out piece. View of mouth, superb hand blown vase from local art school side in coarse stage dry, front and back front side wet Project before going into rotary

All those Rios, sitting there collecting dust. Too bad you've got plenty of room to store them indefinitely. I guess a change up from time to time is called for. Nice looking material.

Poor neglected Rio's. Stubborn to grind, it is I that needs a rest. Those things are like tumbling titanium. Yes a change is timely. Still love tumbling them rocks. Rio's are't going anywhere, waiting in line. However the glass has to be checked and picked way more often. It is more work. Shape a bunch and shut the rotaries down for a spell. Wait for the vibe to catch up. 5 pound vase Ends up 1.5 pounds in tumbles and not much waste when breaking.

Speakin' of Rios ... Border City near Texas Considered Mexico’s Most Dangerous, Finds Surveywww.breitbart.com/texas/2018/01/23/border-city-considered-mexicos-dangerous/REYNOSA, Tamaulipas — The citizens of this border city consider it as one of the most dangerous in Mexico. etc... You can Google the location, but it is about 50 miles down stream from Falcon Lake. Probably makes Zapata about as dangerous as Atlanta!

Them Sandinistas, Cartellians and Jihadists were shakin in their boots when we made appearance. Made em carry our rocks.

Did strength tests on this pieces like this from a blown Polish vase. widest dimension 1 inch, thickness 1mm. Exceptionally strong. Polished glass approaches extreme strength as it's surface becomes polished. Scratched glass is order of magnitude 100's times weaker. Example is effect of glass cutter. However drilling a hole without somehow polishing it would make it revert back to being weak.

The small barrels like yours are perfect for George size rocks. Best to have a long tumbler frame and spin a bunch of small dedicated barrels with a big rock in each barrel exactly like you are running George. If you want to run several at a time. Before shortening snout

jamesp, so am I to understand that you like the sound of breaking glass? Are you doing this from scraps/slag or are you breaking perfectly good glassware to make these pretties? The bowl isn't my taste, but the little fragments of it are beautiful. It reminds me of surfite. I picked up a couple of chunks of it on eBay (REALLY spendy), and have been playing with it. I'll post some pics soon. Sorry if I've missed a new chapter in your life, I haven't been on these boards for MONTHS for a variety of reasons, and am just scanning through what I've missed.
