I doubt this is possible, but it would be great if there were other options, other than a like for posts here. Many using phones and checking in, do not have access to the emoticons. Others with older computers do not as well. So many times I would have loved to post a frown, wow, sad, etc. Kinda like what is available on Facebook, for reactions.
When I click on the smiley, it does give lots of options, but know many are unable to see them and I do not even know what some mean, lol. Just a thought.

Hi, sorry for the slow response - I had to ponder it for few days. Don't feel bad, I do this to my wife too and it drives her crazy . There is a modification I could install if folks are interested but I'm not sure it captures what you were looking for. It installs a button called "add reaction" and it brings up a small dialog box from which a reaction image can be selected. For testing purposes I loaded some of our existing emoticons. When a reaction is added the images shows in the lower right corner of the post along with a counter of how many times the reaction was used. It's anonymous meaning you can't see who gave the reaction. I'm not sure if I like or hate this fact.

Many using phones and checking in, do not have access to the emoticons. Others with older computers do not as well. To specifically address this part of the question - phone users who access the forum are shown the stripped down mobile view by default but they can change this by clicking on "desktop" in the lower right corner. This gives phone users full access to view everything desktop users are seeing including emoticons. It's a lot of zooming in and out though - probably not worth the hassle. Proboards version 6 is coming and it is said it will have a much more enhanced phone app view.
