So I am working on prong settins for my faceted smokey quartz. The first is Sterling silver and the prongs are a little too long for my liking. This one is a gold colored brass wire, which I think plays really nicely with the dark stone.and I got the prongs shorter toy liking. Thanks for checking them out.

Wow, you definitely have the prong thing down. Looks great. Yeah, the smaller do look better, but the first one is still nice.

To me, the longer ones are fine, but is based on the stone. Longer ones on the second stone would have not been right JMHO.

I think that since the stone is fairly featureless, that the longer prongs add interest.

I like the shorter prongs myself, but it could just be that the round stone with only three prongs kind of threw my eyes off.

That makes sense. Would have balanced it out a bit.

I think with the prongs a little higher the round stone would be my favorite. The sterling wire works best with the SQ IMO. They are both very nice.

The more I look at it, the more I like the first one. 3 prongs is a good number and then the bail kinda makes it more balanced. I don't mind the larger prongs against the dark stone- adds interest esp when the prongs are so neat.

They are both very nice. I think I prefer the shorter prongs.
Peace, Rich
