Thank you RTH'ers for five years of sharing, teaching, encouragement, and friendships. I have learned so much from so many of you.
I joined RTH shortly after I had received my first ever rock tumbler. I had wanted one since I was a little kid. At 47, I finally got one. I knew nothing at all about rocks and minerals when I started. I had never owned a cabochon, sphere, or a polished rock.
When I found RTH I was wide-eyed at the tumbles, cabs and jewelry all the amazing people here could make. I am still amazed at all the talented people who so freely share their knowledge with any who ask.
The knowledge shared here has turned a passing interest in rock tumbling into a full-fledged passion and a profitable part-time business. I am grateful to everyone who shared their experiences, techniques, critiques, and love of lapidary arts. You have all helped me become a lapidary, silver-smith, faceter, and wire-wrapper. I never suspected I could be even one of them.
Over the last year or so, it feels like there has been change in the atmosphere at RTH, or, perhaps the change is simply within myself. I have found myself posting less often and becoming more reluctant to revisit threads after creating or posting to one. What used to be a fun place to come and share successes and chuckle over some failures has changed for me.
This is going to be my last thread and post for the foreseeable future. I am not planning to delete my account or anything so extreme. I will still get notifications of messages from those I talk with regularly, I will login to reply when I get them, and I am sure that I will occasionally lurk the boards. Down the road, I may start posting again, but for now I think it is best to take a sabbatical.
Thank you for being such a great community.
