Here's a sample batch of some purple lace agate I just finished. I'm not too happy with the results. The rock is way too porous. The main reason I did these stones in the first place, was to test out the effectiveness of Tripoli pre-polish. The tripoli works great! These went for 4 weeks in 60/90, (recharging every 7 days) 1 week in 120/220, 1 week in Tripoli pre-polish and 5 days in Titanium oxide Polish.

I'm thinking those are some fine rocks you have there. The shine surpasses many I have seen, and I can see what you mean about the porosity. Is this a rock you might consider a different final polish on? This is with your hot water/Borax rinse? All in all I think they look great James! You turn out consistently good finishes. I like em' !! I don't think I have ever had the patience to let stones run 4 weeks in 60/90. Maybe as I get more mature. ;D Thanks for sharing James!!

Thanks!
John- Try Tripoli. It's really easy and efficient to use.
Banjo- I don't think I would use a different polish for this particular stone. The titaniun did as much as any other polish could have. It was only in polish for 5 days too! The clean-up was quite simple; 45 mins in hot water with 1 tbs of borax.
I recentely found out that the polish that comes with the tumbler kits is actually titaniun Dioxide. I remember the dioxide stuff to be much more messy. The shine factor is still the same as titianium oxide though.
