First post is my favorite marine snail of all time - the tasty, hard shelled, beautiful, Strombus Gigas! (QUEEN CONCH). I had an idea last night. Specimen shells are something I collect way more than rocks and minerals, simply because of 1. Scientific purposes, importance, and information, and 2. Shells are cheaper as they are not collected as much as minerals or jewelry. My most expensive shell was $75, and my most expensive rock was $200. The shell you are looking at now is a rare dwarf specimen of Pink Conch / Queen Conch (Strombus Gigas), it is 6 inches and a full grown adult shell. 99% of this species adults are 9-12 inches long. Just like humans, molluscs can have diseases / syndromes so that the shell is midget sized (just like human midgets). I am not putting it in a way to offend anyone, but rather a way in which to convey facts. It cost me $36.95. It is 158mm long.

tell me something about the growth of the shell does the little critter as it grows keep building shell up? Yes! The shells are simply growing exoskeletons of the snails. I have an example below. Thanks for your interest! All my shells come with operculums and data slips.
