My mini Vib arrived earlier last week but I haven't yet got rocks as was only going to start tumbling when I got back from interstate. Then I realised this morning that my month for item return if faulty would be up by the time I got back!
So I lobbed off to K-Mart today and bought the only pebbles or rocks that they had- (some quartz pebbles) to try out the machine.
I only managed to get two bags of small stones of similar size (approx. 1cm-3cm in size) and have added mixed ceramic media. They are also already pretty well shaped so I have just gone straight to the #600 after cleaning.
It would be nice if they took a polish but at $2.00 for each 1.5kg bag, I won't die in a ditch if they don't come out great- my primary focus is to make sure that the machine actually works.
I followed the steps from #600 and the unit is definitely working fine, the stones and ceramic media are moving as described.
The bit that I don't understand is that it has a dial that reads Off- Max and then Min but the Owners Manual booklet that comes with it doesn't give any advice as to which setting it should be on or why there is a Max to Min setting option.
What setting would be normal or is it dependent on the load and/or hardness of the stones?
Thanks

Don't know about your tumbler, but Dollar Tree sells rocks in a bag. Somewhere on RTH tumbled some of these rocks and said they weren't too bad!! Good luck!
BTW, welcome!

The max min setting changes the amplitude of the vibrations, on max the machine really aggressively rolls the rocks which can chip and frost the corners of some rocks, Quartz, glass obsidian are really susceptible to frosting.
Drop me a PM either here or the ALF forum, I have a parcel for you.
