I just got back from a rockhounding field trip over the weekend. It was a large gathering of people from various rock clubs. What fun!!! ;D Here are some photos. The material is from the Cady mountains in southern California. Most of the collecting was done in Afton canyon. This is kinda a bad pic but it shows how much material I brang home. Most of this is agate and jasper. The carnelian in the colander isn't from the trip btw. This is a close-up of the moss jasp-agate I found. I had to hike over two large foothills to find it. Here are some agates and nodules I found. Here are some of the best specimens. There is chalcedony, chalcedony roses, blue fortification agate, and nodules. I'll be doing a load of the moss jasp-agate in my new model B. I'll be sure to post pics!

Somebody's gonna be busy for a while! Nice haul James. If you want to sell some of that let me know, I'm just a "stone's throw" away from you here in San Jose.

Well, it's coming along. The moss jasper is in its third week of 60/90; in the 3000 rpm tumbler. It will be ready for 120/220 soon. Some of the agate is rolling too. I can't wait! There is nothing like the satisfaction of tumbling your own findings. Thanks to all who commented by the way. I'll post the pics when they're done.
