I’m guessing captbob has stolen the show today! Gotta confess I’ve spent an hour or so reading up on his New Finds too 😂

Sorry Mel. I've come back to look several times and other than agreeing with the opalized wood, I can't help.

Thank you guys. I know it’s very difficult identifying slabs not knowing anything about them. She’s delighted to know more than she did plus it gives her an avenue to study.

Is 3rd banded chert/jasper? Also, photos 7-9, looks like some type of mineral I should know, as it is common in the open pit mines in Wisconsin.

Pictures 4, 5, and 6 look like palm wood that might be opalized by observing the surface shine on the last picture.

11/12 look like stromatlitic jasper. I'd guess mary ellen, but I don't know for sure. 10 might be as well, but it's hard to tell from the pictures.
Edit: For clarity it might be better to space out the pictures with the number. It's hard to tell if you are putting the number before or after the picture.

melhill1659 FYI "Normal" people do not consider people that like rocks, minerals and fossils "Normal" people. Though I think people here would. Praying for your family. 1 & 2 Malachite with Quartz and possibly some copper oxide 3 Looks like Epidote and magnetite. There is some pink in there which might be Orthoclase which would make it Unakite with magnetite, I have also seen jade that looks similar but you can distinguish between the two by texture and hardness which don't come through on an image welll at all. #4 and next two images looks like Petrified wood maybe opalized #5 and two images Geothite #6 two images is a sagenite Agate #7 Agate #8 Granite #9 Sandstone with Iron staining #10 Chert #11 Chert maybe Petrified wood #12 Mary Ellen Jasper
