Or whatever the proper name for it may be. Or just call it Russ being dumb again. Or still. Anyway, first saw pictures of the cowboy wrapping a few years ago. This year at Quartzsite finally caught up with Bill orrum and got a quick and entertaining lesson on how to do that stuff. Have all the necessary stuff sitting around here anyhow so I grabbed a couple of my junk cabs and wound some wire on them. Then I thought I'd torture you all with my crappy work and horrible photo skills. Just for chuckles I grabbed a rock from the basket of tumbles and tried that. Thanks for looking and have a great day Russ

Very cool! Orrum is awesome! Your post was entertaining, too. (and your pictures aren't that bad!)

Thanks for sharing them. I like the last one the best. Maybe because of the hook at the bottom. You could tumble them in stainless steel shot to clean up some tool marks then add a patina so they get the aged look.

I really kind of like these Russ. Its something ive been seeing more of. The last one is my favorite. It almost has a heart shape. Photos are not bad either.

Those look great. I tried it once. But it wasn't good enough to photograph. Then again I didn't have a lesson. It looks simple, but its not that easy. Congratulations on success your first time.

Good job. Bill got my wife interested in the technique as well. She just hasn't had time to start pounding out wire yet. I've got her "anvil" all set up, but she's been too busy with other stuff right now.

Thanks all. With any kind of luck I'll get better at it, play with some different things like patinas and whatnot. Just felt good to actually do something with rocks again.

Hey Russian they look great!!! Just turn the bail until it contacts the top of the cab. I like them all but playing with the wire like on the last one will make you a great Hillbilly Wire twister!!! LOL
