What else do you find in Tanzania besides opal and pretty lizards? We have a lot of natural resources such as minerals, geothermal resources at Mt. Meru with unique competitions. There are so many attractive sites and places like Ngorongoro, serengeti, olduvai, Kilimanjaro and so so depends on what you’re interested in.

How about Tanzanite (gee, wonder where that name came from?), Tsavorite garnet, Songea ruby, sapphires from the Umba River Valley, Winza and Tunduru; fine red Mahenge spinel, other rare and beautiful garnet types like Umbalite, etc.; and many other fine gems. The name comes after the location of discovery Tanzan_ite. Same applies to tsavorite minerals in kenya it named to honor the village known as tsavo in Kenya. We do have other minerals named to represent and honor Tanzania for-example mineral Nyerereite, is a very rare sodium calcium carbonate mineral with formula Na2Ca(CO3)2. It is the name given to honor our first president and the founder of Tanzania the late hon Julius Kambarage Nyerere.

It sounds very geologically interesting. I have never heard of Nyerereite.
Well, gemfeller, dur! I meant more specifically what has Robot found and what does he collect.

Tanzania is a phenomenal gemstone country. Vast amounts of unexplored territory and great geology. Hope you get to do lots of prospecting and if you find something you want to sell, let me know.

You do find a nice array of material, I especially like the pink and green ones in the last photos. About how big is each piece [the little ones], and how hard are they?
