Those are shaping up nicely. Just thinkin' out load here, if you notice any pieces that have a fracture that could break, sometimes it's best to pull them before they break, as the broken sharp edges will scratch the good pieces, sometimes making it necessary to repeat the coarse stage.

Yep, I break them on purpose because I don’t really like fractures in my finished rocks anyhow. I find that the sharp edges on end cuts round off at a frustratingly slow rate.

I find with the flats that you I need to grind the edges round first, because they're flat they tend to slide flat and grind the flat sides thinner without doing a lot to the corners and edges.
I agree about giving them a tap with a hammer to break them along cracks, anything in my tumbler with holes or cracks get tossed or gets more grinding or sawing to eliminate the blemish.
