Nice batch! Impressed with the star of the show. Have you ever done gold leaf-flake on natural edges?

Waaayyy too many favorites to choose from I'm particularly enticed by some of the cabs that follow natural outlines, but also some of the others. Very strong colours, so pure rock heaven drool factor.

I'm particularly enticed by some of the cabs that follow natural outlines, Thanks Kurt - me too - I am drawn to anything that looks like I can create a cab and keep the natural edges. They are fun to work on and can be challenging too. The double-hole burro creek in the first picture started life with natural edges on all sides and was quite large and spectacular, but as the left and right sides got thin they became too unstable and crumbly so I ended up rounding them into the batman shape instead . The bottom edge of that piece actually has a sparkling druzy which is why I wanted to feature it in the first place.

Have you ever done gold leaf-flake on natural edges? I have not... sounds intriguing though. Do you have any photo or link examples?

That natural edged Aqua Nueva really grabs my eye. Thanks Lynn - that little Agua is probably my favorite in the list - such perfect agate with beautiful color and depth and zero fractures. When I cut the nodule the crust around the agate was a solid 1/4 to 3/8 thick in places all the way around - as pieces broke off during doming it became a sculpturing project. I basically had to gently break off the excess matrix with hand tools trying to even it out without going all the way to the agate like what happened at the very top. The thick section at the top left was where I had to back off because I was too afraid of breaking it.

OH wow, that's beautiful and I want to try it. How stable is it to not flake off?

OH wow, that's beautiful and I want to try it. How stable is it to not flake off? I guess it depends on what type of sealant or glue your using.

I hadn't seen a glue-on gold flake technique. Is this similar to electroforming (painting with copper paint, then plating)? Is it as sturdy as electroforming? I'm intrigued.

I'm going to say that as in most plated jewelry, it all rubs off eventually depending on wear and tare. Using a glue or epoxy, I cant tell you how long it would hold up?

Bravo!
Look into "electroforming" also. Way more permanant than leaf.
Edit: typo, damned autocorrect!

Absolutely stunning cabs! My favorites are the lower wildflower rhyolite, the "Cave Swellers", and the natural shaped Agua Nueva- but honestly, they're ALL eye candy!
