She's on her way! Let the fun begin!
How did she drill the small stones?

She just started Thurs!? Wow- I'm impressed! I love her sense of color, too. The first one is one of my favorite color combos.
The wire wrapping is a really great start. It's really hard to wrap glass, too.

Great job! How did she drill those holes? MsAli & Pat she uses a mini drill press and diamond bit with those pliable beads called Jet Ballistic. You heat the water to 170 deg pour in the amount of beads you need make a pocket to hold the rock after it hardens. Then you pour in the water you need to make a water pocket that cools the drill and rock when drilling. The drill press is variable speed which makes it nice. The beads can be heated up and reused.

I know she is loving having a shop. Wow it is top notch! Do you cut vinyl as well? What’s under the black Masterbuilt tarp?

Thanks! I know yours is Bench Mounted But I think you could fold it under and Hem it Shorter and I think still could work. I mounted my Shear on a Harbor Freight Grinder Pedistal Right Next to it Both are Anchored to the Concrete. You may be able to free up some Bench Space and do something similar. Just a thought your shop Rocks! ~Duke

The shop came out fabulous. The transition from Wheel Horse to what it is now can be an inspiration for all of us building a work space. Your attention to detail is evident in both the construction and your jewelry.

Duke, I don’t understand the little Jet Ballistic cup for drilling in. I drill hundreds of holes in pudding stones to make beads for a friend. I’m just drilling 1mm holes. I use a Dremel in a drill press stand. I also cut larger holes for other projects with a regular wood working drill press. In both cases, I drill in a sandwich sized Tupperware type container with water in it. I put a small piece of 1/4 in plywood in the bottom so I don’t drill a hole in the container when I go through the stone.
When doing the pudding stone beads, I drill from both sides to avoid blowout. I glue a short piece of the 1mm drill bit I use into the plywood so it sticks up about 1/16 of an inch. After drilling about half way through, I line up the short bit in the plywood with my bit in the Dremel. Then I set the partially drilled bead on the short bit and drill the rest of the way through. I hit the hole every time that way without any blowout.

I asked her that and She saw this movie below on Rio Grande and she has been doing it this way ever since. I am sure as time goes on she will emit steps in her procedures but right now she is having fun and if she feels safer doing it this way I am not going to say anything to her. ~Duke
