I guess we are going to get hammered, weather-wise... just in time for my doctor's appointment. Again. (Which is tomorrow.) As though I'm not nervous enough about it already! I'm in northern Vermont. We have not gotten a lot of bad weather this winter, compared to some places, but I can tell you when each storm is going to be by looking at my calendar and seeing when my out-of-town appointments are.
Last night and this morning (as in, 2 hours ago), the weatherman said it was going to start snowing around 4-5 pm. It's now 10:20 AM and already snowing. These are the same people who said we are going to have 6-12 inches... hmmm. (Yesterday morning they said about 3-5 inches, upgraded it yesterday evening.) Plaaaaaaace your bets!

Good luck! I remember those snow storms all to well......I don't miss them at all anymore, glad we moved from the terrible winters in the prairie states!!

I am a few hours south of you in Albany, NY. There were multiple school closings this morning. My son's res-hab program is closing early. Wednesday evening Bible study has been cancelled. We're supposed to get 12 inches or so, and this morning it was snowing to beat the band. Now it is not even enough to be called a flurry.
The weather people were right last week when we got 14-16 inches. Right now their predictions are looking a bit over zealous, but the day is young.
It may be a Nor'Easter, it may be a Not'Easter.
On an unrelated note, <RANT> why do weather casters need to come up with names for storm systems? A "Bomb Cyclone"? What is wrong with blizzard or snow storm? Why the sensationalism? When did snow fall become an act of terrorism? </RANT>
EDIT: And not ten minutes after I post this, down it comes again! :-)

A bombogenesis cyclone is a particular type of storm that forms in a certain way, with rapidly dropping pressure. I believe the term has actually been around for a while, though not in common use. But since everything is a 'crisis' (or 'devastating')these days, I suppose the weather might as well be, too.
Nor'easter who refer to the direction the storm comes from, not necessarily the impact, though such systems often pack a wallop! Due, I think, to their formation over the ocean.
It wouldn't hurt my feelings if this one fizzled out in about 5 minutes from now. Yup, I could deal with that disappointment.

I think this may turn out to be a real storm after all as it is snowing heavily. Our office is closing at 3:30, which is a very unusual occurrence.

PA NY NJ – Over 135,000 customers still without power from last Friday’s storm. Heavy snow today ain’t gonna help trees and power lines.
Could be worse.
Over ten percent of Puerto Rico still out, TWENTY-FOUR WEEKS since hurricane.

We ended up with 6-8 inches or so here. Downstate they got 16 or more. Living in the 'burbs we rarely lose power. People still hit the grocery stores en masse to buy out stuff. In several decades of living in this area, I have been snowed in only once, and that was for less than 24 hours.

My cousin in southern Maine emailed a picture of her 16" and counting 2 hours a go. They're getting clobbered!
