Austin capital building has large monument in front honoring the brave soldiers that "defended Texas from the aggressors of the North". Even better, just inside the front door is a statue honoring Davy Crockett with his famous quote he made after losing reelection to Congress " I shall go to Texas and you can all go to Hell".
