TheRock , since you bought 1 lb spools, I'd say yes. I get wire both on spools and off the spool. Just depends on where you buy it usually. If it said 1 lb spool, then that's what you should be getting. Yes Pat they are all from Rio Grande what threw me is online some showed pictures of a Spool and some didn't, so that's What threw me. It will be much easier to unreal and make something to store this wire if they are on spools! Thanks ~Duke

I store my silver in bags. I used to have a stand made with a piece of 4x4 with pegs to hold the bags on. Took up a small amount of desk space. Some of those gauges won't get used very often.
I sometimes make cord necklaces. For the ends I used 19g 1/2 hard round. It turned out to be perfect. 20 and 18 weren't quite right. Of course, cords are the only thing I use it on.

I also store all my wire in a ziplock bag. Each gauge gets a separate bag. Also store the shee metal in ziplock bags. All bags are labeled.
Wires in one crate;sheet metal in separate crate.

I'm a Ziplock girl, too, but that spool rack would be pretty cool.

I'm a Ziplock girl, too, but that spool rack would be pretty cool. I am chomping at the Bit to get the spools of wire that should be delivered today. I want to see what the size are of the spools, so I can figure what and how I will build a rack to hold the wire spools. ~Duke

I would find that arrangement unhandy. Each spool will have to be unwound several feet, so she can reach the end. The spool holder would be handier if it were on a wall facing her. A weight or guide would need to be attached somewhere so the coil would not hit her face.

I think I may have to agree with Pat on placing the spool racks on the ceiling. I was picturing them on a wall where you could pull the wire straight out. It may be difficult to measure how much wire you need while it's hanging from the ceiling. This will become especially important when you are using Sterling. You need to make sure you're cutting precise amounts to avoid waste with silver. The racks look great, tho!

I'm vertically challenged so the spools on the ceiling would be a nightmare for me. Kudos to you for imagination though.

Yeah, I had to think abt this. I know the cieling slants so it isn't that high there, but the coils uncoil when you unwrap them. I think it will be a pita to use that system. The spools are too close to use the holes in the plastic base to run your end through to secure it. . If you just let the ends dangle- someone is gonna lose an eye. Of course, it's worth a shot to try it out and see if it works, but I think you'll find that it's gonna be inconvenient to use. When I am on a burn wrapping, I like to have my wire within easy reach.

Well looks like you ladies WIN! I guess some Stickers will have to come down off the wall and my Wife's Favorite Picture of us and will be mounted on the wall to the left of the Television on her bench. This is why I make posts to get the approval if something is a good idea or not! ~Duke
