Not sure what the host rock is but that is definately pyrite crystal in it. The distinctive greenish yellow and the qubic outline give it away. If you scratch it on a piece oif unglazed porcelain (back side of white bathroom tile) it will make a blackish green streak.

Forgot the strike plate test. Gold is a gold strike on very fine sand paper ( Black 900 grit ) is best. or edge of white broken clay mug. Fools gold having to much silica will show white strike.

Did the scratch test on 2000 grit and it's...100% pyrite. ): it was black on the paper. Got some nice landscape rock now.

Darn. The characteristics of this looked like real gold. Cubic outline, but appeared solid, not in cubic crystals like fools.

I have to agree it's pyrite. I also have to agree that pyrite can contain some gold within.
One of the best and easiest tests for gold (in my opinion) is to take a safety pin or tip of a knife and poke it. Gold is malleable at room temp. and you will be able to stick a pin in it.
Aaand somehow didn't see someone else mention this, but great minds think alike!
