Well gem trails was up to date on this one,lol What a beautiful place to pick up fire agate, stained chalcedony and some white chalcedony for jewelry projects. The one pic is a piece I found in front of my van in the camping area about one mile back once you turn and cross the cattle guard. I was gonna g to mule Creek for some Apache tears, but I was tired and had no idea if anyone had good luck there.

Cool! Does that first piece have fire, or is it just root beer color? Lynn

Went to Mule Creek two years ago. Plenty of Apache Tears where we went. If was difficult to take a step in some places without stepping on any. Probably picked up about 30 pounds in a couple of hours. Was not driving and too busy admiring the scenery to pay attention where we turned off the main road.
Which Fire Agate location did you go to?

cool, glad you found some good rocks. I've never been to that area so might have to go sometime. I have a lot of stained chalcedony and some fire from Saddle Mountain area but none from Black Hills area.

It does have fire, I almost cried when I found it like. Got lots of root beer stained and three more that have little fire. I have several I have to wash off because they were larger and buried in the dirt. That place has a tone of red jasper but it's to pourrus to do anything with. But I will be back to check other areas out there
