hand polishing sounds like hard work.....drum grinder or no drum grinder....when you see the shape in the stone and after you make it come out...then what do you do with the finished piece?
ps. love the pics of your jewelry, i wasn't able to see them at first, but upon repeated attempts i was able to (amend that, my computer was able to open) see them.
darn that Bill Gates. KD

Sandman, With grinding and shaping you're in control, not at the mercy of the tumblers and grit. You don't have to wait and wait and wait and... open the barrel and go "Dam, it's not ready yet. " Makes a whole lotta sense to me cookie

I have this little tiny piece that is about a 5/8 inch circle by 1/4 inch in height. Just holding it i can feel that this stuff is dense. I want to get some to try tumbling it so i can have bigger pieces. Also because i just want to have more rocks. ;D ;D i don't have a camera or I would show you guys pics of things, I feel left out in that way because everyone else posts all these pictures.
hey, and you know what i just found out? Hematite is magnetic! ;D which makes sense since it is iron ore or something

Hey Banjo, I've got a bunch I'm going to start soon. What I have done before didn't take a good (or even mediocre) polish. It's heavy, but soft, figured that much out. What is the best polish? I used cerium oxide before with no luck. I'd like this batch to do well as I'd like to make some jewlery from it. Thanks

This stuff was not done by myself (I can not tell a lie). So any info on tumbling it I would have to gleen by experience. It looks like it ran a long time in 60/90 though to get the shapes as round as they are. Sorry I have not yet tumbled the full gamet of rocks and minerals.
