amygdule is quite familiar with the Mini Sonic as gmitch067 mentioned and extremely helpful with a project I had using the Mini sonic hoppers. IMO the Mini Sonic hopper is the best design on the market. It has a round profile and requires little stimulation to get the rocks to start rolling. Perfect design for soft materials. Yet narrow enough to prevent big rocks walking to the left and small rocks walking to the right. It better be.......at over $420.00 a pop for the duel 4lb hopper, it's price is nearly twice that of the Lot-O duel 4.5lb barrel...........Have a buddy who owns the single hopper Sonic and two dbl barrel Lot-O's......The Lot-O's are noisier, but from what I have seen from his results, the Lot-O win....hands down. He uses the Sonic for polishing soft material only now. He bought it first...........If this hobby sticks with me, The Lot-O will be my next "investment"....lol The only thing is you can’t turn down the Intensity on the lot-o with a turn of a dial like you can the mini-sonic

Not as easy as turning a dial, but the intensity of a Lot-O can be adjusted by moving the wood dowel that's under the springs.

If I get time later (and remember to do it) I'll hook mine up to a light dimmer and see what happens. Edit: Not sure slowing the motor down will effect the intensity.

Just bought 15lbs of 120 AO from The Abrasive Armory. (Thanks James).
Gonna try 60 SiC in the rotary then start to finish with the 120AO to completion in the vibe. I'll keep you posted.
Also, I think I'll cheat a bit and grind off some if the bad areas on the stones that remain after three weeks in the rotary.

If you do grinding, are you planning on dropping said rocks back in the coarse stage? You should.

Just dropped my second load into the Vibe. 1.5 TSP of 120 AO and four or five drops of hand soap. No Borax (yet) I decided against grinding just yet. I want to see what happens to them from start to finish with the 120 AO breaking down over the next week or so. Seems like I have the action of the tumbler pretty much figured out. I used all of my ceramic media on this batch filling the barrel up way further than I did the first time. Pretty much all the way to the neck. I think that helped tremendously with getting a good roll going on. Made a quick vid to show what I am talking about. 20180325_202002
