Questions about filling imperfections. 1- do you fill or leave? 2- if you fill, what do you fill with? I have started getting materials for an experiment with stone sealer in a vacuum chamber to stabilize the base stone before turning to avoid chipping along fissures, and it should be setup in the lab this weekend. Any info helps. Thanks in advance, and it's nice to be back. In regards to picture, largest one is 4 inches in diameter.

I use clear nail polish, "hard as nails" The top coat style. It works good for me on tight fractures. I never tried it on large gaps. The other is "hot stuff" the red label. It even says " for lapitory use" on the label.

Is it an imperfection or a feature?
Features I fill with wax and make the ball. When complete, I put it in a pot of water and heat up ontil the wax melts and floats to the surgace of the water. Once all has melted and floated, I turn of the heat and let cool to room temp. Then place pot in the fridge overnight. In the morning the wax is solid and can be reused.
If its an imperfection, fill with whatever. Opticon, hot stuff, opticon with powdered stone mixed in...
The last undercuts less than the expoxy itself.

Sometimes I get some chipping along a hairline crack. I'll attach a few pics once I get over to the shop.
