No can do PhotoB links here without paying PB for them. Try uploading or using a different photo hosting site. Flickr is link friendly as the Rock Show Gallery here on RTH.

Some look like banded chert/jasper to me, but I am not familiar with MO rocks. They are very pretty.

saxplayer You have discovered chert. MO is full of it. If you get around Cole Camp, MO it has light pastel colors (pinks and purples) and it is called Mozarkite and they charge $4-$6 per pound for it. Chert takes a good polish if it is solid. Yours looks solid. Chert and Flint are cousins and the native americans used both to make arrowheads.

Especially the striped piece in the bottom right corner of the group pic? Some of these I should probably break into smaller pieces before tumbling...will it chip/break with a hammer and chisel ok or should I saw it? Grant

Hammer is a good tool for chert. Yes my inlaws live in MO and I have done some collecting there over the years.

My father-in-law has a creek running through his property and he has about 800 acres here in central MO. I'm going to start looking for some rocks with the kiddos soon and see what we find / tumble!

No, Clinton MO (SW of Sedalia) just south of town on HWY 52 there is a pulloff on both the North side of the lake and the south side of the lake off 52(both on Rt side of DR when heading south on 52). That is where I have found P. wood and coral.
