geez, i just realized i didn't put in a scale factor...next time. here is my latest batch of mongrel mix, it is sodalite, moss agate, some local backyard granite and some brazilian agate. i started this all before i knew better...haha. i've charged my 5th barrel and took a shot of the "before" so next month (give me patience) i will post the before and after, meanwhile, here are my progeny: blue rock for sandsman this is what comes out of my backyard here is a nice moss agate: here is a previous batch and a detail: ok, so these aren't as nice as some, but i'm really enjoying seeing what i can aspire to in here, thanks for showing me yours, KD

Really pretty KD! I think I like the backyard stuff the best. I wont even go into the moss/tree agate thing, but I just love that stuff ;D

I really dig that Agate. They alway seem like the have some thing mysterious goin on inside of them. All very nice. Those all get polished together. What polish? (I forgot to take notes)

KD- You are holding 'Green Tree Agate'- A white based agate with strong green fern-like patterns running throughout. Moss Agate- A dark green base rough with a translucent clear moss like pattern thru-out.

I agree with Cookie, I think the backyard rocks are my favorites. Nice job.
When I find those kinds of rocks, I generally only keep them if they don't have the black specks in them...I think the black specks are fine mica grains?? I've tumbled them with the black specks in them before, and found that these ended up as pits. From the photos, it doesn't look like you have that problem. Maybe I should try again.
Nice rocks, all of them, and nice to have such good tumbling material out your back door.

mongrel mix That's a great name for a mixed batch of rocks! These rocks may have started out as mongrels, but I can guarantee they are now pick of the litter rocks! Those are really pretty! Great shape and shine! I love sodalite. How did you get that shine on them? The backyard rock is beautiful! I may have to order some of that backyard rock from you in the future! llana

thank you for all the nice comments.... ;D
the polish i used on all of that was plain old bog standard Aluminum Oxide.
and banjo, that IS moss agate that i am holding, it is near translucent....the larger pieces i'm going to put through another cycle to see if i can't get a more rounder shape.
thanks again for all your encouragment,
KD

Hi KD, great rocks! super job on them! I'm real partial to the sodalite, beautiful. I've been MIA for a few days, trying to get caught up on posts I missed. Later, Don
