snuffyIt would not be right if we didn't get to see your garden in spring. What is your mulch? I think I need that here. No garden this year. jeannie moved in. Between all that entails and a work shed I'm stalled on, in making, no time for garden. Thank you sir!

Scott,I am using hay, some of it rye, some coastal Bermuda grass.I can get all the large round bales I want free.Gonna keep a permanent mulch on it 6-8 inches thick.I call it my old folks garden.Pull hay aside, plant, pick. snuffy

Solid. Good situation. Learning from you.
Out here it would be weed free straw. $4/bale. Maybe need 2-3 bales a year.

You've got a jump on it once again, snuffy! That is one huge garden. Are you growing gourds again this year? I buy bales of hay from a feed store for mulch. Two bales more than enough for a 12' x 20' garden. A few rye seeds will sprout, but easy to pull if you stay on top of it. I wish bales of hay were only $4. When I bought some last year, I think they were over $10.

We had 4 inches of rain last night, yard and garden needed it and it washed tons of the Oak and Pine pollen away. I have 12 quarts of canned tomatoes to use up by end of May before the next crop starts coming in. It seems I will be making a couple batches of home made Pasta Sauce and Meatballs, yum, yum yum!!
