I just had to share this spectacular picture that one of my sister's friends took just last week. It is just totally awesome how the tip of the tornado and the end of the rainbow are in the same spot. Tami

Wow!!! That is an awesome photograph. Your sisters friend should seriously consider entering that in a photo contest. She should check the net and find the one that offers the best prize money and send it in.

It's unfortunate that those things can wreck up people's lives, because they sure are a beautiful and stunning display of nature's power. Nice photo.

I have lived in KS most of my life and have seen many tornados. One poor guy I met was from Alaska and now lives in a tiny town close to where I live and he said he lived somewhere in a bowl and used to watch tornados jump from ridge to ridge. The night I met him hew was working at a convience store and there was a tornado warning out and he said "Tornados don't happen at night", and I told him all the ones I have heard or seen happened in the late evening and at night. Yes I have a few hair raising stories about tornados.

whoops, picture is gone. I'd love to see it though.
For what it's worth, I've been really happy with photobucket. It's free and you can link to it all you want.

I've often heard that big news stations pay big bucks for those kind of picks, especialy if it's related to something current. Might contact CNN or something cookie

Great pics! I'm glad you posted them Tami. I've always wanted to see one in person, but never have. It is hilly here and not many ever make it long in these parts. But back in the 70's there was a bad one in Zenia, OH. It was a mile wide F-5 that pretty much wiped out the whole town if I remember right. They are destructive and deadly, but like it was said, beautiful at the same time. Thanks again for the pics, Don

I would suggest that she crop out the house on the right before she submits the photo. They look for little distractions like that and count off for them.

I'm.....awestruck!! That's too cool. And to be in that spot at that very moment. Your sister's friend was meant to see that. How many people can say they got to see something that beautiful and that rare?! That reminds me of the time that I was sitting on the riverbank fishing and watched about a dozen deer come up to the opposite bank, swim across the river, and get out on my side not 30 feet from me. All I could do was just sit there with my mouth agape. I was the only one who saw it too.
Do you think your sister's friend would mind if I saved a copy of that? I'd just like to have it for my own "lookin-at" purposes. That's just an amazing pic.

Wow Tami , you realy made my day by showing this awesome phenomenon. I have only once seen one myself..way back in 1973 It was , It started out high up in a cloud but petered out before it could get even close to the ground. Extremely facinating though Thanks again

You are welcome, like I said this came from my sisters friend. I have seen several torandos in my life time and living in KS I am sure I will see more, although I don't think any of them will be as spectacular as those two pictures. Tami
