WooHoo, only two tries to get it right. Thanks John, I read your instructions. The first time I didn't read the entire message. Let me try a smaller pic- 25% of original. Cal

Cal, Is that a quarter? When you went to 25% (and that's all I can see) it's kinda hard to tell. Looks lucious anyway ;D A lot of use are having trouble polishing sodalite so please keep us informed, K?

Hi all,
I am very happy and relieved to finally get the rocks! It took over 2 weeks to get the rocks from New Jersey to California. I think the rocks made it from South Africa to New Jersey in under three weeks! Two weeks may not sound too long, but when you are waiting on rocks, two weeks feels like an awfully long time. The trucking company that I work for has a transit time of 4 days, but is almost twice as expensive. What's the old saying, "you get what you pay for".
The poor delivery driver couldn't budge the pallet, it only weighed 2,300 pounds. Of course, I jumped in to help him. We had to move each drum (4 of them) by hand, up a slight hill! I used to drive a small truck and made deliveries in my younger days when I worked on the dock. I jokingly told him that I had a lot of training in being an unhappy customer, like I didn't want the freight because the drums were scratched. Haha.
He did sort of roll his eyes when I told him the drums were full of rocks! He brought along his lady friend/girl friend. So.. I should her my polished rocks. She picked out a few rocks. I could tell the driver was getting a little impatient, I think he wanted a cold one! I definitely needed a cold one (I am not used to heavy labor!)
Yes, the picture had a quarter so that you could compare the size. I didn't want to make the picture too large - size wise and byte wise. I bought a little more than 50 pounds of sodalite. The order of sodalite was 3 rocks! So.. the rock in the picture is about 20 pounds or so.
I couldn't wait to open the drums and look, touch and feel my goodies, but I promised the kids that I would take them swimming. But, immediately after we got back from swimming, the tops of the drums came off!
The rocks are now in neat piles in the basement! I was washing a sample of each to see how the rocks looked. I am now the proud owner of some South African mud! My poor little rockhound was helping me wash the rocks and dropped a small piece of blue lace agate on her toe! Luckily it wasn't the huge piece of sodalite, otherwise, we would have been making a trip to the hospital.
I have taken some pictures using a Kodak Digital camera, but the colors came out sort of bluish. The towel was white. The batteries were a bit low and the picture was taken in the shade. I am wondering if the colors get weird if the battery is low? I was only able to take 5 pictures before the camera shut down.
Tomorrow morning, before going to my brother's house for Father's day, I'll take some more pictures and post the pictures after I get back!
Yes, I do have a Paypal account, but I am not sure if the account is set up to accept payments. I do know that I can use it to pay for stuff (rocks, grit, etc haha).
What is sort of weird with the pictures is that I had Photobucket reduce the original picture by 50% in the first show, the second picture was reduced an additional 25% (I think, it may have been an additional 50%). Both pictures look the same to me. Do the pictures look different on your computer?
Can you tell that I am a Photo novice (and, tumbling novice also)?
Yes, my Friday luck extended into Saturday! (see earlier post).

Alright Cal!!! Beautiful rock, yes the pics look the same size. If you are linking to the same pic all of them will change when you change the size on the photo site. Glad you have your rock safe and sound at home, congrats, Don
