Hi Everyone Any suggestions on tumbling this stone in a 12lb barrel? It's pretty edgy and I'd suspect quite a bit of loss around those edges during stage 1? Thanks -Sean & Rebecca

I'd use a small tile saw and nip off those edges to save a considerable amount of grinding time.

Can you give us the size and the type of stone?
I use the QT66/12 with a 12 lb barrel. Running a sharp edged stone (like the one you show) for a 2-4 weeks of 80-grit usually rounds off the sharp edges a little... but keeps the general triangular shape. The amount of wear also is dependent on the hardness of the other stones in the 12 lb load.

Thanks for the tips! saxplayer, I wish I had the room for a tile saw and other equipment, right now I'm taking up precious space while my wife is being graciously patient with me! Maybe my dream of a garage will build itself after I win the lottery tonight heheh gmitch067 the size is ~ 4x2 probably not a good fit in the 3lb barrel -s

A wet stone in an open air environment and wear a protective particulate mask makes it safer too....!

For a stone that is 4"x 2" ...not good for a 3A rotary tumbler, but it will be good in a 12 lb one... however... for the sake of keeping the other smaller stones from getting banged-up, do not add any more larger stones. Except for that one large one, keep the rest 3/4" to 1 1/4" in size.
