Went out look for jasper yesterday Plenty of reds, some quite dark but some nice bright reds. Here's a big one that I brought home for the garden, I don't have a saw that big enough. 29 kg (almost 64 pounds) of red. I dig fill up my bags with smaller material, to tumble and to slab. This one was so ugly that when I got it home I almost threw it out, glad I didn't more of the same piece and some small one cab bits

I wish I had a backyard somewhere (within 100 miles) I could drive and find scores like that! How awesome to have in a garden / rock bed.

Big red, very nice, and a great save on the smaller pieces, lots of cabs in those slabs!

Seems only fair!
Search terms were "old man splitting stone", in his Sunday best!

For the stones we typically split, I prefer this style wedge so the force runs at a right angle to the hammer blows: Mine are about 1" square and 3" long. Made by a local blacksmith for my father.
