that the round shape as been around for a long time and
it would be an honor to the ancients to
pyramize it

1dave , when I watched the video I remembered that one of Leonardo da Vinci's contemporaries used a similar solar method to solder together a large ball designed for a cathedral project. While I realize the time difference between Renaissance Italy and the earlier projects covered in the video, it shows that technology had a tradition of use. I found this link interesting as it describes using solar mirrors to routinely do many things, from creating perfume to lighting fires.

& other higher learning institutes
Have tried the experiment
w/ varying degrees of success… mostly

mohs , I'd forgotten about Archimedes' fire weapon. That shows the principle was known in fairly ancient times. I doubt Archimedes was the first to discover it.

I'll be sure to take a few baggies with me next time I'm on one of those "survival" TV shows. But there's a downside: "Don't know why, there's no sun up in the sky, stormy weather."
