My daughter saw these trees at a renfest and had to have one. Coincidentally, drocknut posted hers, too. I figured I should give it a try. Here is my first one. I am not happy with it, but my daughter is. I haven't knocked down the patina yet just in case she didn't like it. It is a moonstone with a long shape. I should have started with a different shape. The roots were tricky. Now that I have done one for one daughter, I need to do another for the other..... sibling rivalry.  |

That's awesome! I love the glowing stone behind the wire - gives it a moon light appearance. Please do NOT take this the wrong way - I love it the way it is and I know it will look different when you rub the patina out but my first thought was of making these as a Halloween themed pendant with black wire and maybe with a cat or a yellow moon or a tombstone etc. Kind of the "tree of death" as opposed to the "tree of life"  Can you guess what my favorite movie ever made is? haha.  |

I love anything traditional tree of life.
That is great fro your first one. Love the choice of moonstone.
Have a tentative order to make some unique ones. Wire tree of life, with various stone beads on the branches. The roots and branches would be soldered to the top of a metal case. I would first need to cut away a portion of the case cover. In the case would be a felt pad to hold essential oils and some loose stones. I am thinking about instead of cutting the cover and soldering, just using a punch. Run the branches and root through the holes and solder them to underside of lid. Punch a few larger holes in other portions of lid, maybe 3 total.

Great job on that one rockjunquie. Yours looks way different from mine for sure. I have yet to do one with a tree over a cab like yours mainly because I don't have many cabs that would look good like that plus I don't like to cover up cabs with wire, but that's just me. Yours looks great and I'm glad your daughter likes it. |
