Was looking for something else in an area in the middle of nowhere Central Nevada. Could not make it all the way to where I wanted to go because it was getting late and I wanted to get out of there before dark and it was a ways in on a really bad road. I did reach a mine close by an at first it did not look like anything worthwhile. Finally I found a small pretty piece of stone and decided to look around for a larger piece so the trip would not be a total waste. Came across this material at one spot. Have not run any tests on it yet. 20180410_131917 by James Sloane, on Flickr 20180410_132059 by James Sloane, on Flickr 20180410_132100 by James Sloane, on Flickr 20180410_132119 by James Sloane, on Flickr 20180410_132135 by James Sloane, on Flickr 20180410_132141 by James Sloane, on Flickr 20180410_132156 by James Sloane, on Flickr 20180410_132204 by James Sloane, on Flickr 20180410_132213 by James Sloane, on Flickr 20180410_132218 by James Sloane, on Flickr 20180410_132225 by James Sloane, on Flickr 20180410_132613 by James Sloane, on Flickr

Beautiful and loaded with potential. I love the variety of colors. The one with the maroon is stunning. What was the overall feel of it? Waxy like jasper/agate? Were there portions with other feel? I have some vintage Zuni Bears with the same light green/gray/tan appearance. They were called your basic Jasper. Purchased them in the 1980's in New mexico and have no idea where they came from. A new find is always exciting.

Looks like a mix of brecciated materials. Might that been within the area where Alamo impactite breccia is found? Much more colorful than most, but perhaps a possibility.

I sincerely doubt it's a named jasper variety. Name it after a loved one. Slice a zillion slabs, sell sell sell
We found similar red material this weekend in Cali. Not nearly as nice as yours. Congrats

Oh...
And take the locality to your grave, like Howard did.

Oh... And take the locality to your grave, like Howard did. The site is a ways in on a really bad road and it looked like there was very limited material laying around. So it would not be worth it for most people to even try to find it. I plan to make another trip back up there soon because there are some other things in the area I want to get more of and I am still looking for something else that is supposed to be in the area, which is why I was exploring there to begin with.
