I was on a roll looking through my rocks so decided to put together a few small flat rate boxes of some of the better rock I have plus a medium flat rater of Arizona material. Still trying to make my mom happy plus pare down my stash of rocks so I can go get more....lol.
Box #1 SOLD - SFRB - 3 lbs - Carnelian (unknown location) - generally 2" pieces with the largest being 2 1/2" x 2" x 1" - $20 (includes shipping) US only price (international shipping will be more)
This is some more material I got from an old rockhound when I was in Montana. He told me it was from a guy who collected 30+ years ago and he had the rocks for about 20 years so I have no idea how old they could be but they are definitely old stock. They were identified by a guy in Quartzsite who said he was for sure they were carnelian but couldn't say where they might be from except for most likely the US.
Box #1 (dry)
Box #1 in sun (dry)
Box #1 (wet) - shown with ruler for size reference
Box #2 -SOLD SFRB - 3 lbs - Carnelian (unknown location) - mostly 2-3" pieces, the largest is about 4" x 2" x 2" - $20 (includes shipping) US price, international will be more - this is the same material as box #1 but with bigger pieces
Box #2 (dry)
Box #2 in sun (dry)
Box #2 (wet)
Box #3 -SOLD SFRB - 3 lbs - Rhodonite (unknown location) - mainly pieces 2-3" with the largest being 3 1/2" x 2" x 1 1/2" and the smallest being 2" x 1" x 1/4" - $20 (includes shipping in US only - international will be more)
This is just rough, uncut pieces, very black on the outside because it has been exposed to the air for a long time, some with a little pink color showing where it got chipped for identification purposes. This is from the same old rockhound’s collection as the carnelian and I have no idea on location. This was also identified by a guy in Quartzsite as definitely being Rhodonite and possibly being from the US.
Box #3 (dry)
Box #3 in sun (dry)
Box #3 (wet)
Box #3 piece showing some pink on the edge (wet)
Box #4SOLD - SFRB - 3 lbs - Oregon Blue Opal - mainly 1-2" pieces with some chips and some matrix rock - $18 (includes shipping in US - international will be more)
I collected this many years ago and just haven't done anything with it so it's time to "let it go".
box #4 (dry)
Box #4 in sun (dry)
Box #4 (wet)
Piece of blue opal slightly polished (I stuck a piece of this material in the batch with the sunstones I polished just to see if it would polish and was pleasantly surprised that even some of the matrix shows some shine with only a few days in AO polish in a vibe tumbler) - this is not in the box - just posted a pic to show
Box #5 - SOLDSFRB - approximately 2 lbs - Pumpkin Obsidian slabs/chunks - most are 5" x 1 3/4" x 1/4" with the thickest being 3/4" thick - $18 (includes shipping in US - international will be more)
This was a piece of obsidian I bought at a rock shop in California and got someone to slab for me into knife blanks for flint knapping - The guy called this "pumpkin obsidian" and it is a solid orange brown color with what looks like some swirls of orange brown in it. This is what I have left after a guy bought most of the rough of it in Quartzsite - he said it did flake so it would work for flint knapping as far as he was concerned. I will most likely never be able to knap it because of my shoulder and arm problems so I'm letting it go too. It could make some cool cabs or could be knapped or tumbled.
Box #5 (dry)
Box #5 in sun (dry)
Box #5 (wet)
Box #5 - slab chunk (wet)
Box #5 - thickest slab (with tape measure for reference) (wet)
Box #6 SOLD- MFRB - approximately 15 lbs - Arizona rough rock - 2-3" pieces but also some larger - largest piece is 4" x 3 1/2" x 1 1/4" and smallest is 2" x 1" x 1" -$40 Price reduced to $30 (includes shipping in US - international will be more)
This is material I have collected in Arizona and just have a lot of it so need to cull the stash. Some is moss agate, some jasper/agate, and some 4th of July Butte (there might even be a few pieces with little red "poppies" in them that were found near Pioneer Road north of Phoenix).
Box #6 (dry)
Box #6 (wet)
piece from box #6 (wet) - this is a cut piece
