I've been exploring mountains of spoils from an old (1880s to 1960s) glass plant. Here's a sample of what I've been finding. Not as colorful as what jamesp has been producing, but no expensive kiln or hand blown vases involved. Color balance in my camera is a bit off. In real life it's swirls of transparent green and opaque off-white.

The difference in my glass and yours is an interesting history too. Awe inspiring glass factory ruins you have there. Wish it were close to here.

Reminds me of antique slag glass.

I'm hoping local history = $$$ at a craft show in a few weeks. <laughing>
On a side note, I'm discovering that cutting glass and platelet-inhibiting medication don't mix well.

Reminds me of antique slag glass. That's exactly what it is. Lots of spills, spoils, slag and broken plate glass. If the rain lets up, I shoot photos of some of what I've brought home.

Some actual glass slag and a chunk of very dark green, most of which is quite gemmy.

Only the green glass around here though.. There is a lot of chunky transparent green, but many colors of plate glass. Transparent blues and peach. Opaque whites, tans, black, line green and blue/purple. I find new colors every time I'm there.
