Drummond Island Rocks and all you other master wire wrappers: This is way beyond any wrap that I could ever perform. I am actually looking for a partner to help with this glass 'manufacturing' gig if it takes off. A local person, maybe a retiree that would like to do minimal wraps, attend Atlanta arts festivals and help with possible internet listings. Minimal wraps for $20 pieces for instance. Or captbob a young nubile lol. Anyway, they need to live close by and hopefully have some internet savvy. But I need to have high quality wire on hand to get them started. I may go down to Amalgam Arts Jewelry school and see if I can find someone that wants to work out of their home wrapping. I just want to make the glass and oversee the tumblers because I really enjoy those functions. And the marketing aspect because I feel I have a product that is going to sell eventually. James, it takes practice but I would be willing to bet you could wrap.

Sure would like to just melt and tumble and make myllions and mylloins Dream on jamesp Well, you should always target what you want to do. I knew or figured way back when joining RTH that if I could lay a tumble polish on glass I may have a real cool market. Been watching Etsy jewels for 8 years and have yet to see much tumble polished/formed glass on regular basis by any supplier. It is hard to do on a large scale till I figured out some serious tricks. Maybe a myllion others can do it and the result just does not appeal to them masses out there. An unknown. I was trying to think if I wrapped any heavy steel over the years. I can bend darn near perfect circles/rings. OK with shapes. But all the intricacy you guys do is amazing.

What about a cheaper / easier solution like drilling, or even glue-on bails? Not so unique or artistic by any means, but for mass production maybe a necessary compromise. As a novice wrapper I know it's not a skill you can master in a couple sittings, and it's a time-consuming and laborious process (for me) to get good results. Will be watching regardless, chances are something revolutionary will develop from your interest

Ditto what rockjunquie and drocknut said. I have never used craft wire and never will. I am a wire snob. If you must, use silver filled. I save all my scrap sterling and fine silver and use it for decorative elements when I'm making a smithed piece. You can send precious metal scrap back to Rio and they will give you a credit for your next order. I haven't done it yet, but someday maybe I will. I'm not sure about the silver filled, but I don't see why they wouldn't accept that, too. Save every little single bit, no matter how small. It all adds up to weight. If you want black wire, liver of sulfur it until it's black. Get the gel LOS. It lasts longer. Just keep it in a dark space. I have turned in my scrap for credit many times and it sure helps with the cost of buying wire. Rio will also pay you for the scrap but you get less than if you get credit for it. I have sent in sterling, silver filled, gold filled, and Argentium. I usually save it up and then send it in when I need more wire (I know, vicious cycle...lol). I just wish I could send in copper wire but haven't found any place that will buy scrap copper wire other than the junkyard and they don't pay diddly for it and they want large quantities not just baggies of scrap pieces. Got a load of fancy metals(copper/brass/argentinium/stainless). Do they only take jewelry metal or any base metals ?

Looks like the nice 925 pinch bails are the trick. Another reason is a lot of these 'cabs' are nice on both sides, polished on both sides and radiused equally on both sides. So it is a 2 sided piece making a bail the perfect hanger for 2 side presentation. I will get some wire and try my own basic wraps and perhaps teach a neighbor to do them. I just want the best/correct wire... Several of the wife neighbors used to work for me when I had a plant business and great workers and asking for work.
